Welcome to Decorous Designs! My love for sewing began in childhood, sitting beside my great-grandmother as she created countless beautiful quilts. She inspired me to pick up a needle and thread, teaching me the joy of crafting and even how to sew my own clothes. In high school, I briefly dreamed of pursuing fashion design, but life had other plans.

Over the years, my journey has been anything but linear. I got married, had three wonderful children, navigated a divorce, went back to school to earn a diploma in Science Laboratory Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, remarried, gained a bonus son, and welcomed two more children into our family. Every twist and turn has shaped who I am today.

What began as a creative way to stay home with my two youngest daughters has blossomed into a full-time career. Our Ride Safe Ponchos—designed to keep children warm and safe in their car seats—quickly became a customer favorite. More recently, I've shifted my focus to creating upcycled items, with many exciting new designs on the horizon!

At Decorous Designs, we specialize in handcrafted keepsakes and upcycled treasures, including memory bears, pillows, blankets, and children's rompers. Each piece is lovingly crafted to preserve your cherished memories and bring joy to your home. Whether it’s a memory bear made from a loved one’s clothing or a romper upcycled from a sentimental t-shirt, I pour my heart into every detail.

I truly love what I do, and as my youngest daughter so sweetly put it, “Mommy, you make stuff to make people smile.”
